Photograph the Sahara
Beneath the Stars
I guide you through several nights in Tunisia's Dahar region to photograph the Milky Way, desert landscapes and cultural heritage, from planning your composition to processing your final images.
A Few Nights to Discover a Different Way of Photographing
A nightscape photograph does not begin when you press the shutter. It begins with a location, a foreground, an orientation and a clear idea of the image you want to create.
Throughout the workshop, I share my approach to planning a shoot, working in the field and combining the night sky with the landscapes of the Sahara.
I work with a small group so I can dedicate time to each participant, provide individual guidance and help you develop your photographs directly in the field.
The Sky Is Only Part of the Photograph
I choose locations not only for their night skies but also for their foregrounds. Traditional architecture, villages, mountains and desert landscapes become essential elements of each composition.

What We Will Explore Together
My goal is not simply to teach techniques, but to help you understand when and why to use them to create thoughtful, well-balanced nightscape photographs.
Location Scouting
Read the landscape, identify interesting foregrounds and anticipate the position of the night sky.
Composition
Combine the landscape and the sky to create balanced, visually compelling photographs.
Camera Settings
Learn focusing, exposure and camera settings suited to nighttime photography conditions.
Star Tracking
Understand and practice astrophotography with and without a star tracker.
Panoramas
Create wider compositions that capture the night sky and expansive desert landscapes.
Post-Processing
Process your photographs and progressively develop them into finished nightscape images.
From Daylight to the Heart of the Night
The schedule varies depending on the location, season and conditions. The approach remains the same: prepare the photograph before the night sky becomes the main subject.
Location Scouting
We explore the location during daylight and look for compositions that will work once darkness falls.
Preparation
We prepare our equipment, choose the orientation and framing, and set up focus before nightfall.
Twilight
We establish our compositions and prepare each shot according to the available light and foreground.
Beneath the Stars
Milky Way photography, nightscapes, panoramas or star tracking: we photograph according to the possibilities of each location.
Reviewing Our Images
We review the photographs together to understand our creative and technical choices and work on post-processing.
